Plain English Mash

PLAIN ENGLISH MASH

This plain english mash is delicious but radically improved if you include a little jelly with the dripping; it's also a good way of using up leftover potatoes but can obviously be made with freshly boiled.

 

Serves 2

  • 4 or 5 cold cooked potatoes

  • 1 oz (25 g) dripping

  • 5 fl oz (150 ml) milk

  • salt to taste

  1. Mash the potatoes finely with a fork and then a masher.

  2. In a saucepan, melt the dripping and add the milk.

  3. When very hot stir in the potatoes, mix thoroughly until heated through. Season and serve.
