Simple Baked Sweet Potatoes and Apple Cooking Recipes

Baked Sweet Potatoes and Apples


How to cook baked sweet potatotes? Smokey garlic sausages, grilled over a hardwood fire, along with a big bowl of Summer Slaw, and thick slices of pumpernickel bread will combine very well with this dish.


Makes 6 servings

  • 1 tablespoon butter, plus additional for buttering

  • 4 large sweet potatoes, peeled and sliced

  • 2 medium size Golden Delicious apples, peeled, halved, cored, and sliced

  • 1 cup apple cider

  • 2 tablespoons applejack or apple brandy (optional)

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • 1/4 cup packed dark brown sugar

  1. Preheat the oven to 375F.

  2. Generously butter a 1 quart ovenproof casserole.

  3. In a large bowl, toss together the potato and apple sliced, and spread them in the prepare casserole. Dot with 1 tablespoon of butter. Pour in the cider and , if using, the applejack. Sprinkle the cinnamon on top. Bake for 40 minutes. Spread the brown sugar on top and bake until melted and bubbling, about 10 minutes longer.
