How to Boil Fresh Green Peas

Boiled Peas


Place shelled peas in boiling (unsalted) water just to cover. Simmer 8 to 10 minutes if very fresh, depending on the size of the peas, and drain. Truly fresh green peas need very little cooking time. If they will be chilled and used in salads, they can be cooked 1 or 2 minutes less. Older peas may require up to 15 minutes cooking time. Very old peas may never become tender.
