Steamed Fennel Parmesan
The pleasant anise flavor of fennel goes very well with Meal,
especially thick broiled chops. It is very simple to prepare.
Makes 6 servings
3 to 4 medium size fennel bulbs, trimmed, any tough outer ribs removed,
halved lengthwise, cut into wedges, and steamed until tender
2 tablespoons butter, plus additional for buttering
Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
1/3 to ½ cup freshly grated parmesan cheese
Preheat the broiler. Butter a small gratin dish.
Arrange the steamed fennel in the prepared dish. Season well with salt
and pepper. Dot with 2 tablespoons of butter. Sprinkle the cheese over
the fennel. Broil 3 to 4 minutes until very hot and the cheese is
golden brown. Serve at once.
